I sent the call out to artist friends, non-artist friends, and family to participate in this collaborative project this semester. I was thrilled with everyone's response and can't wait to see what happens to them while they are away.
I received the first canvas back and I will include what I've done to that object below. I was sooooooo excited when I first got the initial piece of canvas back I neglected to document what it looked like before I dove in. Sorry about that, it didn't have any ochre or burned holes when it arrived. After working on it for a couple weeks I had to put it aside to think about what I need to do to resolve...well..everything that I did to it.
I've gotten a second canvas back as well and haven't decided how to respond with regard to its particular history.
I'm finding this process is opening up and allowing for important connections and ideas I wasn't expecting, some are welcomed while others...not so much. I've also questioned my sanity in being able to complete all I set out to do, but I'm going to try.
My very wise daughter suggested waiting until all 13 pieces return before I decide what to do with each one...pretty smart, huh?! I think that is great advice so while I wait for the others to come home, I'm working on paintings and drawings. I'll include some of those as well.
